The Transition to Online Journals:
a Beginning |

The Library has provided increased
access to online journals during the past 4 years, and users have benefited
from the convenience of the access, and additional journals not previously
available in print at UBC have become available.
In response to the growing and
heavy use of online journals and in order to make the most effective use
of its collections dollars, the Library has decided to move in the direction
of purchasing online only subscriptions, where a reliable, stable, and
up-to-date online version exists. We have identified a subset of titles
that are represented in both print and electronic format in our collection
and are discontinuing the print subscription in 2004 for the journal
titles produced by these publishers:
- Academic Press
- Academic Press--Harcourt
Health Sciences
- Blackwell Publishing
- Blackwell Synergy
- Dekker
- Elsevier
- Kluwer
- Springer
- Wiley
Also included are titles that
are part of two aggregators:
