Statistics

 General Information

Statistical information is gathered by governments and large research projects, listed on the right as "Statistical Sources." Some information is directly related to education - for example, the School Achievement Indicators Program. Other information is relevant to educational research, but not directly about education. For example, information about family income is available at the Statistical Profile of Canadian Communities (Statistics Canada).

Statistical information is often available in reports and other published materials at UBC Library. From the library homepage at www.library.ubc.ca, choose Find. Do a keyword search which includes your topic and the term "statistics", for example, special education and statistics

Standard subject headings follow this pattern:

Adult education -- North America -- Statistics
Literacy -- Canada -- Statistics
Child welfare -- British Columbia -- Statistics

For books about statistics and research methodology, use these subject headings: Education - Research - Methodology
