Meta-sites are websites that provide links, usually by topic, to other websites.
archINFORM The largest online-database covering international architects and buildings from past to present. It includes images, histories, bibliographies, and more. Searchable by keyword and browsable by subject divisions.
Tip:
separate search terms with semicolons.


Architecture and Building Hosted by the Architecture Studies Library at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, this site covers architecture, building and construction, design, housing, planning, preservation, facility management, energy and the environment, and landscape architecture.


Architecture Virtual Library One of the many WWW Virtual libraries searchable by keywords or browsable by topic. Interested specifically in landscape architecture? Visit the Landscape Architecture Virtual Library. Tip: when searching, separate keywords with a comma.


Art, Design, Architecture & Media Information (ADAM) A topically arranged database of architecture web resources. Links to architects, architectural drawings, galleries, organisations, theory & criticism, history, building types and more.

Canadian Architect A periodical for architects and professionals in related fields. The Industry Links section lists architectural sites, associations, schools, historical and environmental sites, journals, and more.


Cyburbia Database of resources on planning, architecture, landscape architecture, and the built environment. Includes information on career development, discussion lists, land use and zoning, transportation, urbanism, and more.


VanMap "VanMap is a web-based map system that lets you have Vancouver at your fingertips. VanMap pulls together information and data from a variety of sources, and puts it into maps you can view, save or print out. It offers street names and intersections, but also property lines, zoning information, water mains, addresses, and public places."

Voice of the Shuttle (VoS) Created at the University of California, Santa Barbara, this web site for Humanities has an extensive resource page for Architecture with links to architects, works, projects, image archives, museums, libraries, programs, conferences, listservs and newsgroups.

American Institute of Architects (AIA) Professional association for American architects. Links to conferences, continuing education, awards, competitions, and membership. In addition, the AIA library is one of the premier architecture libraries in the United States. Note: some parts of this site require subscriber access


Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) AIBC is a self-governing body that licenses and regulates the architecture profession in British Columbia. Links to AIBC bylaws, code of ethics, licensing documents, bulletins, the AIBC newsletter, and more.


Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA) An American organization of students, educators and professionals dedicated to the promotion of communication and critical thinking regarding the use of computers in architecture, planning and building science.


Canadian Architecture Students Association - Association Candaienne des Etudiants en Architecture
(CASA-ACEA)
This association seeks to foster communication between Canadian students, the respective schools and the Canadian architectural community. The site includes a \ calendar of events, a discussion board, student projects, and links to resources.


Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) An international research centre and museum devoted to architecture. Links to events and exhibitions, public and educational programs, CCA publications, and more. The CCA collection is one of the world's foremost international research collections of publications and architectural design documentation.


Congress of International Modern Architects (CIMA) Events, membership, news, lectures series, and more.


International Union of Architects (UIA) An international non-governmental organization with members representing architects from over 90 countries. Links to architectural news, journals, international competitions, museums and more.


National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) A non-governmental federation of state boards responsible for establishing national standards for the architecture profession. Links to news, continuing education, careers, and more.


National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) Promotes the advancement of minority architecture professionals. Links to news, professional and student chapters, a chat room, and more.


Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) A Canadian association of architects, faculty and architecture school graduates. Links to RAIC publications, continuing education, competitions, news, career info, bulletins, bylaws, and more.


Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Professional association of architects in the UK. Links to news, careers, awards, exhibitions, directories of architects, and more. Is the parent site of Architecture.com.

Historic Architecture Websites
Heritage Canada Foundation (HCF) A national organization with the mandate to identify and preserve historic, architectural and scenic sites of Canada. Links to resources for national, provincial, and municipal heritage associations, government agencies, and international organizations.


Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) Promotes knowledge of and support for the conservation of historical buildings in the UK. Site lists job opportunities, papers, policy documents, and information on international issues of interest.


Society of Architectural Historians An international organization promoting and sharing knowledge on the history of architecture, design, landscape, urbanism, and related topics. Links to web resources, images, libraries, collections, and architects.


UNESCO World Heritage UNESCO seeks to encourage the identification, protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage around the world considered to be of outstanding value to humanity. Consult the World Heritage List for specific sites.

Architecture Images
ARTstor (restricted to UBC users)

ARTstor is a digital library of art images, information about the images, and software tools designed to enhance teaching, learning, and scholarship. ARTstor contains approximately 550,000 images in the areas of art, architecture, the humanities, and social sciences. The images in ARTstor come from a wide range of civilizations, with initial strengths in European, American, and Asian cultures.

Archivsion collection
Archivision is a database of 34,000 high quality, professionally photographed images of architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, archaeology, and design searchable within the ARTstor database.


American Memory Hosted by the Library of Congress, this national digital library contains material from more than 100 historical collections relating to the history and culture of the United States. Browse or search the Architecture, Landscape collections, or link directly to:
Art Images for College Teaching (AICT) Free-use image resources for ancient, medieval, renaissance, baroque, 18-20th century, and non-western art and architecture. The AICT website was created by Allan Kohl of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and is currently hosted by the Department of Art History at the University of Minnesota.


Asian Historical Architecture A photographic survey that hopes to promote a greater understanding of Asian architecture through images and descriptive text.


The John Bland Canadian Architecture Collection
(CAC)
The mandate of the CAC (established by Professor Emeritus John Bland, Director of the McGill School of Architecture for 31 years) is to document the work of past and present architects who have studied and/or taught at the McGill University School of Architecture and Urban planning.


Cities and Buildings Database Created by University of Washington faculty members and researchers to support scholary study, this is a database of digitized photographs of buildings and cities from around the world with a focus on the United States.


Great Buildings Collection Provides information on architects and buildings from around the world. Includes photographs, drawings, videos, and interactive three-dimensional models.


Slide and Photograph Image Retrieval Online (SPIRO) Searchable by historical period, place, subject, and topic. This database is maintained by the Architecture Visual Resources Library (AVRL) at the University of California, Berkeley.
