Urban Studies Abstracts (1973 - )
Bibliographic records covering essential areas related to urban studies, including urban affairs, community development, urban history, and other areas of key relevance to the discipline. Records are selected from many of the top titles within the discipline, including Journal of Urban Affairs, Urban Studies, and Canadian Journal of Urban Research.

Urban Studies & Planning: A SAGE Full-Text Collection (coverage varies)
Includes the full text of 12 journals published by SAGE and participating societies, some journals going back 37 years, and encompasses over 2,500 articles.

Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals (Selective coverage from 1860s; 1934- )

Social Sciences Index (Retrospective: 1907-1984, 1984 - )
A bibliographic database that indexes articles of at least one column in length from English-language periodicals published in the United States and elsewhere. Coverage includes a wide range of interdisciplinary fields covered in a broad array of social sciences journals.

Sociological Abstracts (1963- )
Indexes and abstracts the international literature in sociology and related disciplines in the social and behavioral sciences.

Web of Science (1965- )
Consists of three citation indexes: Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Arts & Humanities Citation Index.

CBCA (Canadian Business and Current Affairs) (1982- )
Provides in depth access to a wide diversity of Canadian periodicals, ranging from academic titles to special interest publications to general magazines.

Canadian Public Policy Collection (coverage varies)
A collection of monograph publications from Canadian public policy institutes, government agencies, advocacy groups, think-tanks, university research centres and other public interest groups. The organizations included in this collection represent the leading edge of primary research and opinion in all areas of Canadian public policy. Their publications are vital to the understanding of developing issues in every arena of Canadian public life.

Canadian Periodical Index (1988- )
Index covers 1988- with over 740,000 citations to more than 400 periodical titles, and full-text covers 1995- with over 30,000 articles from 165 periodicals.

Canadian Newsstand (coverage varies)
A full text database that includes the complete available electronic backfile for listed newspapers, providing full access to the articles, columns, editorials, features, obituaries (Victoria Times-Colonist only), and selected letters to the editor.

British Columbia Newspaper Index (1991- )
Focuses primarily on British Columbia political, social and economic issues.



Statistical, look here for statistics and government information:

E-STAT (Statistics Canada)
contains comprehensive statistical and demographic data about Canada, including detailed census returns from 1986-2001 and the historical censuses from 1666 to 1871; the 1991 Aboriginal Peoples Survey; CANSIM time series; 1997 and 2000 Canadian federal election returns; data on the environment.

GovInfo: Government on the Web (coverage varies)
Many hundreds of links to Canadian provincial and federal, U.S. and International agency sites are included in the database, including text site descriptions.

LexisNexis: U.S. Serial Set Digital Collection (1789-1969)
A collection of U.S. Government publications compiled under the directive of Congress, captures every aspect of American life from the early 19th century onward, from farming, to westward expansion, scientific exploration, politics, international relations, business, and manufacturing. It includes Congressional reports and documents as well as executive agency and departmental reports ordered to be printed by Congress.

LexisNexis: Statistical (1973- )
An important resource for locating government statistics - US government statistical publications, as well as those of international intergovernmental organizations such as the UN, European Union, OECD, IMF, Asian Development Bank, etc. Includes online "Power Tables" for US federal agencies and for the World Bank, and links to government statistical resources on the Web.

Statistics Canada Electronic Publications (1995- )
Internet publications from Statistics Canada, many of which are no longer published in paper but continue in electronic format. This site includes both serial titles (monthly, annual) and monographs, but does not cover the Census of Canada.

Transportation, look here for transportation information:

TRIS: Transportation Research Information Service (1960 - )
Contains almost half a million records of references to books, technical reports, conference proceedings, journal articles and on-going research in the field of transportation. TRIS covers: Highways, Transit, Railroads, Maritime and Aviation. It includes Canadian research from the Canadian Surface Transportation Research Database, as well as some university research.

Compendex (1884 - )
Covers the core literature of the engineering field, including related specialties and technologies. Citations are drawn from approximately 5000 journals; key conference proceedings.

Business, look here for business information:

ABI/Inform (Abstracted Business Information) (1970- , some titles from 1900- )
Contains citations, abstracts and selected fulltext articles from around 1000+ business journals that help researchers track business conditions, trends, management techniques, corporate strategies, and industry-specific topics.

Business Source Premier (1965- )
Fulltext coverage of journals covering business, management, economics, banking, finance, accounting and more. The database contains popular business publications such as Business Week, Forbes, and Harvard Business Review, and hundreds of scholarly, peer-reviewed journals.

EconLit (1969- )
A comprehensive, indexed bibliography with selected abstracts of the world's economic literature, produced by the American Economic Association.

LexisNexis Academic (coverage varies)
One of the world's premier fulltext news, government, legal, finance and business information services.

Strategis (1996- )
Canada's most comprehensive internet site for business information and statistics about Canada and other countries. In addition to providing market research, industry statistics, company directories, and information about doing business internationally, the portal hosts interactive applications such as customizable benchmarking tools, cost calculators, and online business planning.
