Some of the collection was displayed in an exhibition organized by the UBC Fine Arts Department in conjunction with the Centre for the Study of Political Graphics, Los Angeles, and displayed at the Morris and Helen Belkin Gallery. "Up Against the Wall, Motherposter! " was displayed from October – December 1999.

This collection of anti-war and protest posters dates from the second period of the student movement at the University of California at Berkeley. By 1968, the initial idealism of the Free Speech Movement had been replaced by a more urgent sense of imminent disaster, and this, coupled with the actual course of events in the United States and Vietnam, led to serious splitting within the anti-war movement. These tendencies are reflected in the collection. On the one hand there is a demand for "peace," and on the other hand a call to arms.The collection is remarkably complete, and is representative of the entire output of the period. The collection consists for the most part of posters originating on various California campuses. Included are bumper stickers, announcements of rallies, and a number of the famous computer posters which were characteristic of the California anti-war movement of the time.
Contains 250 items.
nb. Slides have been taken of 64 of the 250 posters. A print copy of the inventory, together with these slides, is available under the call number SPAM76P.
