Howay bookplate Since 2004, Rare Books and Special Collections (RBSC) has been in the process of placing its bookplate collection online. This is a student project undertaken by graduate students at the UBC School of Library, Archival and Information Studies (SLAIS).

RBSC holds one major and three minor collections of bookplates. The major collection was made by Thomas Murray (1878-1955) a Montreal bookdealer. The minor collections are:

1. bookplates of the University Library (UBC)
2. bookplates of the Japanese artist Eiichi Hirose (Hirose)
3. Bookplates of the general collection at RBSC (General)

To search or browse the online collection:

1. Go to UBC Library Digital Collections.
2. Click on Bookplate Collection (Rare Books and Special Collections).
3. Click on Browse to browse the collection.
4. To search for a specific sub-collection, click on Advanced Search.
5. In the All of these words searchbox, enter your keyword search terms.

The original team who developed this database between December 2003 and April 2004 were James Lovitt and Heather Dean, then both students of SLAIS.
