    • Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Guinevere, by Alfred Tennyson, illustrated by Gustave Doré (London: Edward Moxon and Co., 1877).
The Idylls of the King by Alfred, Lord Tennyson (1809 - 1892), were the greatest expression of that poet’s life-long interest in the Arthurian story. From the time they began to appear in the 1850s, they were enormously popular, and attracted many notable illustrators. This large volume is one of Doré’s (1832 - 1883) popular folio editions of a single idyll, here the story of Guenevere. This is a volume of proofs, with 9 plates of india impression on stiff cards.
