for those at the graduate level.
- International
Centers for Research on Women. This site is maintained by the
National Council for Research on Women (U.S.).
- Searchable
Database of Women's Studies Programs. Created and maintained by the
UofIllinois WS/WID Library and co-sponsored by NWSA, the site permits
accessing of names of program administrators, faculty with departmental
affiliations, courses, degree options, geographic areas and fields of
specialization.
- Center for Women and Information
Technology, UMd, Baltimore County. Another site by J. Korenman,
it includes links to related sites, other resources about women, and a
collection of syllabi. The Center seeks to address and rectify women's
under-representation in information technology.
- WWWomen-the Premier Search Directory
for Women Online. Owned by a privately held company based in San
Francisco, this site focusses on building and maintaining the best women's
search directory on the internet with links to outstanding sites.
- UMdBaltimore
County Women's Studies Homepage. Maintained by Joan Korenman, this
is a wonderful source for information on e-mail forums, Web pages and
Gophers.
- Gender-
Related Electronic Forums. This site, maintained by J. Korenman has
received several awards. It is an extensive alphabetical listing of
electronic forums (lists) relating to women or gender issues.
- Voice of the
Shuttle:Gender Studies Page. Coming from UCSanta Barbara and
maintained by A. Liu and R.Adlington, the site includes links to Women's
Studies, Gay/Lesbian, Men's Movements and Cybergender.
- Women's
Studies/Women's Issues Resources. Maintained by J. Korenman this is an
excellent site emphasizing sites of particular use to an academic women's
studies programme.
- WSSLINKS. This site is
maintained by the Collection Development Committee of ACRL's Women's
Studies Section. The site's goal is to provide a well-organized
comprehensive collection of pointers to women's studies material on the
internet.
- Women's
Resources on the Internet. This is a collection of sites arranged by
subject areas e.g. art, biographies, electronic discussion forums, film,
gender, organizations, sports.
- UWisc
WMST Librarians Office. Another source providing links to other
web sites, search engines and databases. It analyzes the books
and periodicals published from its Office and lists titles in its
Bibliography series.
- Women's Resource
Project.
Maintained by Melinda Brown and Cheryl Friedman, this site at UNC-Chapel
Hill points to over 100 women's resources on the Internet.
- Ada Project at Yale
(TAP). This site is designed to serve as a clearinghouse for
information and resources relating to women in computing. It is maintained
by E. Freeman and S.Hupfer at Yale University.
- Feminist Activist Resources on the Net.
The purpose of the site is to connect Feminists who are Activists to
resources on the Internet.

- Status of Women Canada.
- Canadian Research Institute
for the Advancement of Women(CRIAW)..
- Disabled Women's Network
(DAWN)Canada.. This is a national organization controlled by and
comprised of women with disabilities. The society was formed in 1992 and
the network has existed since the early 1980's. Links are provided to
related sites.
- National Council of Women in Canada..
- Freda Centre for Research on
Violence Against Women and Children.. This is an action-oriented
centre working with frontline workers in community organizations and with
government personnel. Research is carried out in joint collaberation with
academics at Simon Fraser University and the University of British
Columbia.
- Celebrating Women's
Achievements.. Maintained by the National Library of Canada, the site
includes a selection of Canadian women who have made outstanding
contributions in the fields of Sport, Activism, Booktrade, Politics,

Native Canadian Women Writers Published in English.. The site is

- PAR-L Research Network..
Moderated by W. Robbins and M.Ollivier, the site gives access to a forum

women and electronic communications, training and education, social and

- Canadian Women's Internet
Association. This is a good site for links to both governmental and
non-governmental resources.
- Businesswomen
in Trade. Maintained by Canada's Dept of Foreign Affairs and
International Trade the site aims to support women in the export business
and provides links to other relevant sites.
- York University. School of
Women's Studies. C. Fisher maintains this site which also provides
links to other resources.
- British Columbia Ministry for
Women's Equality.
- Metrac. This community
organization promotes the rights of women and children to live
free from violence and the threat of violence. Metrac is supported by
Metro Toronto Council and the site includes links to other internet
resources on violence against women and children.
- Canadian Women's Health Network
Website. This is an informal network of organizations
involved in information-sharing and advocacy efforts relating to
women's health. Links are provided to other sources.
- Canadian
Society for Women in Philosophy.. Maintained by S.Brennan, the site
eventually will replace the printed newsletter. Information includes job
postings, minutes of meetings, links to other sites, new titles.
- Society for Canadian Women
in Science and Technology. Maintained from Simon Fraser University,
this is an excellent site for Canadian and B.C. content.

- Wellesley Centers for
Women. Comprised of the Center for Research on Women and the Stone
Center for Developmental Services and Studies, the Wellesley Centers for
Women facilitates the development of new research and works to educate,
inform and expand the ways women are thought about in the world.
- Center for Research
on Women. An interdisciplinary community of scholars is engaged in
research, programs and publications which examine the lives of women, men
and children in a changing world.
- Stone Center for
Developmental Services and Studies. The Stone Center is dedicated to
the prevention of psychological problems, the enhancement of psychological
well-being and the search for a more comprehensive understanding of human
development.
- Women and Social Movements in the
United States. Covering 1820 to 1940, the site contains a rich collection
of primary documents at the State Univ. of New York at Binghampton.

- Feminism. Created with the
assistance of New Media Publishing the site includes more than 365 links
arranged by topic. It also provides access to Feminist Majority
publications.
- Feminist Theory. Created
by Dr.K.Switala, the site includes over 5300 bibliographical references,
nearly 600 internet links, material on feminism in 130 different countries
and in-depth profiles of 80 internationally-known feminists.
- Women's Human Rights
Resources. Maintained by the WHRR Group, Bora Laskin Law Library,
UofToronto.
- WL&DI(Women, Law & Development
International). This is a women's human rights organization...non-
profit, non-governmental...in consultative status with the Economic and
Social Council of the UN.

Trafficking. Coming from the office of the Secretary of State, the
site has both a U.S. and global focus. It includes Congressional
testimonies, speeches, articles and links to other online resources.
- Coalition
Against Trafficking in Women. The coalition is a non-governmental
organization working internationally to oppose all forms of sexual
exploitation. It includes links to many other related sources. The site
is maintained by D. Hughes and E&O Carlson (URhode Island).
- Centre for
Europe's Children(Council of Europe).
- UNICEF Innocenti Research
Centre. Created in 1988, the Centre's goal is to "promote a new
global ethic for children based on their fundamental human rights" and
"to encourage the effective implementation of the 1989 UN Convention on
the Rights of the Child (CRC) in every country.."
- Female
Genital Mutilation. A site maintained from Amnesty International, it
provides extensive links to and coverage of FGM.
- Female Genital Mutilation -
Education & Networking Project. Another excellent site covering
reference materials, articles, legislation, links to advocacy groups,
discussion lists and news.
- Women's
Health Links. Maintained by Korenman the site provides links to sites on
women's health.
- NARAL Online (U.S.). The National
Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League site contains the most
comprehensive array of information on all aspects of abortion and
reproductive health. It includes more than 200 links to other internet
resources.
- Catalyst. This site is
maintained by the leading nonprofit organization working to advance women
in business and the professions. Its Information Center has been a
national clearinghouse for information on women and work for more than 15
years covering topics such as leadership development, statistics on women
in the workforce...work and family... flexible work arrangements. The site
includes links to other related websites.
- Genderstats.
Developed by the World Bank, the database includes statistics for
countries around the world.
- Gender
Equality. Maintained by the Directorate General for Employment and
Social Affairs of the European Commission, the site also includes links to
other gender-related sites both governmental and non-governmental.
- Women in
Development. Maintained by K Tonella, UIowa, the site includes links
to various centers and networks worldwide.
- Rainbow Query.
Reported to be the largest, most complete "gay-only" index on the
internet it is a production of Atlantis InterNetworks.
- Diotima. This site
contains materials for the study of women/gender in the Ancient World.
- Western European
Studies. The site provides links to scholarly resources in Western
European Studies including Women's Studies. It is maintained by S.
Dunlap.
- 4000 Years
of Women in Science. The site includes biographies, photographs and
references.
- gender
INN. gender INN provides access to over 6000 records pertaining to
feminist theory, literary criticism and gender studies focussing in
particular on English and American literature. The site is maintained
from the English Dept. at the UofCologne.
- Sunshine
for Women:a bibliography of Pre-modern and Early modern Foremothers.
Maintained by Sunshine for Women, this site provides a list of writers and
their writings from earliest times.
- Sunshine
for Women:Feminist Foremothers. This site includes bibliographies and
biographies and e-texts of complete works of some authors.
- Women Action. This is a
global information, communication and media network that enables NGOs to
engage actively in the Beijing+5 review process...with a special focus on
women and media.
- Women in Politics.
This is a searchable database maintained by the IPU (Inter-Parliamentary
Union) - a world organization of parliaments of sovereign states. The site
is updated regularly.

- Women in Judaism. An
academic multi-refereed periodical dedicated to gender-related issues in
Judaism, the site is maintained by the editors D. Eylon and D. Kriger. It
is available only on the Internet.
- Women and
Performance. Supported by the New York State Council for the Arts and
the Performance Studies Dept at NY University the journal includes essays,
scripts, interviews and articles on performance from a feminist
perspective. Ethnology, dance and theatre history, cinema, cultural
studies and feminist critiques of race, class, sexuality, technology and
nation are covered.
- Intersections:Gender,
History and Culture in the Asian Context. A refereed journal edited
by C.Brewer and A-M.Medcalf, it comes from the School of Asian Studies of
Murdoch University in Western Australia.
- Journal of South
Asia Women Studies. The site provides abstracts for non-members and
