Event: Following the initial meeting, the Roundtable held a very successful theme night celebrating St. George's Day. “Stop Dragin' and Read!” Dr. Roy Bentley gave one of his famous toasts to St. George, Queen Victoria, and other dragons over cups of Dragon Brew!

Event: The first program featured Dr. Pat Cianciolo from Michigan State University on “The Truth Behind the Newbery & Caldecott Awards!” It attracted 125 people. An important element of each Roundtable was to set aside the first part of each session for book talks and discussion of new books.
